Resolutions for 2014; A Link Up!

Happy 2014 Everyone!

Follow your host (ME!) and link up your post! It really is that simple. I thought it would be great to start off the new year by sharing our resolutions {or goals} for 2014 with all of our blogging friends. I always think that if I put them out there then I am more compelled to actually stick to them or try and complete them.

I tend to like GOALS better than resolutions because I feel like resolutions mean that you are "giving something up" or starting something right then on the 1st. These are things that I want to work on throughout the year so I am calling them goals.

  • Read 10 Books- Last year I set a goal for myself to read 12 books {1 book a month} and I did not complete my goal. I started out well but things got really busy. So, I need to lower the goal and try really hard to hit this one. I must say I would't mind blowing this one out of the water!
  • Become More Organized- I need to be organized in the way that I plan my life. My planner will help me with this. Now that I will be at a new practice and balancing that with all the other parts of my life I really need to have everything written down in one place.
  • Take my Blog in a Focused, Forward Direction- I have started working towards this goal already. I purchased and started taking the Content Brew course offered from MomComm. Loving it!
  • {Sort of along the same lines} Execute and Follow my Editorial Calendar
  • Build my patient base at the practice that I am joining- I need to build patients that are MY patients who call and specifically request to see me. I am a fabulous provider so I know that I can do this. Bring it on!
  • Protect Myself Emotionally- Try to do things for me. I need to be more emotionally/spiritually stable. Infertility has taken so much from me but I cannot change that. All that I can do is live my life around who I am now. So if something is just too hard then I just can't do it. I must stop pushing myself into doing things for others that really really hurt me. I can't continue to suffer in silence.

    That is it folks!

    HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR!!!

  1. As you already know-- I will be linking up later tonight/first thing in the morning so that I can finish preparing my post and actually have the New Year perspective!! I've told you before, I curse Resolutions and prefer to call them "Goals" as well. I admire the strength that you are showing in your post here-- Protecting yourself emotionally is always a good thing to do but as I've learned in the last "almost" 9 years since my son Miller passed away, YOU MUST DO THINGS FOR YOU AND YOU MUST NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE! If something is too hard, you owe it to yourself to stand up and say so-- you are one of your biggest advocates for yourself! (and of course I'm always here for you!) You ARE a *more than fabulous* provider and you are going to be so special to your patients!-- I just know it and have so much faith in you! And your blog is going to BLOW UP this year! Just remember "the little people" like me! XOXO

  2. I love your resolutions! I am sure they are ones that you can achieve and are measurable too! Happy New Year girl!

  3. Good goals! I, too, resist the name "resolutions" also. I feel like it makes it too pass/fail. When I did my review of how I did on my 2013 goals, most of them fell under "some progress" instead of "completed". If I had done resolutions I'd have felt like I didn't make them, but I got pretty far on some of them. I also didn't make my reading goal last year, although I got pretty close. I like to keep track on Goodreads. This year I'm not doing yearly goals. Instead I'll be working on the 101 in 1001 that I started in December. 101 goals in 1001 days (although I still need to come up with 13 more).

  4. Oh girl I feel like I could take all of your goals and make them my own! I've decided to try and read 6 classic novels this year (because I'm really good at the nowadays stuff, but the older stuff is near impossible for me to engage with critically and emotionally!).

So excited to have met you and to get to know you more and more through this little space! :)

  6. What a great list of goals. I love the last one the most. I tend to say yes to too many and don't want to let anyone down and stress myself out. It is important to be emotionally healthy as well as physically. Good luck on achieving them, I know you'll do great!
