Must Have Monday Link Up: Valentine's Day Edition!

Sunday, February 9, 2014

The Crafty Practitioner
Valentine's Day Edition!
How fun would this be to do for my little guy? I am thinking he is still too young to enjoy it thoroughly so maybe next year I will have to go all out and do this!
Love the mixture of the hearts mixed in with the normal decorative balls.
Precious little monster poofs! I am thinking about attempting some of these =)
Can we say "YUM!" and also adorable. Considering these for Foster's class party this week at daycare!
Someday I want to decorate even our guest rooms for the holidays, I just think it is so homey and fun.
These are the cutest little things ever. I want someone to give me one (or ten)!!!
Loving this wreath. Who wants to make it for me? ;)
Doesn't this look romantic and fun?! How come my husband doesn't do things like this?! WTF!

Must Have Monday: Grammy Fashion Awards

Sunday, January 26, 2014

The Crafty Practitioner
My plan for this edition of Must Have Monday was to share my must have fashion frocks from the Grammy Red Carpets last night but truly I think there were many more flops than there were spot on choices. So, I am going to share my awards for the fashion at the Grammy's.

Best Likeness to a Corpse: Sklyar Grey
If I were interviewing Skylar I would probably have to ask her if she was attempting to look like a corpse or going for "Silence of the Lambs"? Excuse me but WHOSE SKIN ARE YOU WEARING?!

HOT HOT HOT: Giulianna Rancic
She is always on target. This number is the PERFECT color for her complexion, it fits her like a glove, she shoulders look amazing. She is tied for best dressed on the night for me. What a hot-mamma!

Breaking Amish- The Grammy Edition: Madonna
Seriously?! I mean, SERIOUSLY?! and the cane?!

Classy Simplicity: Martina McBride
She looks phenomenal. Her eyes stand out, her hair looks great. The color suits her! She didn't try and go over the top or crazy flashy, she went with what made her look good and good she looked!!!

 Best Dressed Man: John Legend
Thank you, John. I so appreciate a man who dresses appropriately for the occasion and looks dapper. I love the traditional suit with the satin touches and the bow tie. He looks clean, cultured and sexy. Sing to me, John!

Bad Batch of Crack: Steven Tyler
He must have snorted a bad line of crack when he picked this out. He looks ridiculous. He also looks like a doll stand is holding him up.

Most Awkward Couple: These People
Whoever they are they look silly.  She makes him look miniature. Is he wearing tweed?!

Best Dressed Female: Taylor Swift
The shimmer, the glitter, the silhouette, the hair, the make-up, her eyes, her figure... she is perfection ladies and gentlemen!

What must you have this monday?

Must Have Monday: Meet Tonks!

Sunday, January 12, 2014

This weekend a new member joined our family! She is 6 months old, playful, precious, cuddly, and as soft as can be! Meet Tonks (yes, a Harry Potter reference).

Foster is head over heels in love with her and she actually sits on his lap and hangs out with him. Awesome kitty!

So, for this edition of Must Have Monday I am going to share some things I have been looking at and that I have seen that would be fun to get for Tonks <3
If they made this in my size I would totally want it for me! Don't you think she would love it?

This one would look nice in the playroom or family room. It would at least not look like a crummy cat bed laying around.

CUTEST THING EVER!!! Don't you think she needs her own teepee? I do!

Totally digging this hidden litter box. I don't want anyone to see the litter box because it is gross and this would be a nice way to keep int contained!

She would look so presh in this sweater. Not that she goes outside, haha.

I just think this is super fun! I would like one of these to put in our bedroom for her, perhaps the mint colored one after I redo our room.

Clearly this is for me. I want this for work. Call me the cat lady if you want, I don't care, this is cute!!!

Must Have Monday Link Up

Monday, January 6, 2014

Although I have been trying to avoid it, at some point I am going to have to give my best friend a "big boy" room. To any non-parents this probably sounds like such a silly thing to fret or stew over but it really does make me sad. I think some parents are probably thinking that it was exciting and a "new phase" that they got to experience with they little one. For me, it is a mountain of thoughts and emotions.
- How can my baby be outgrowing his nursery?
- How can I slow him down?
- Will he still let me rock him to sleep?
- Will he want his mommy in the middle of the night?

and the even scarier questions
- Will my nursery turn into a dusty empty room forever?
- Will I have the strength to go in there when it again become the room where only a dream lives?

I spent years dreaming about the nursery that I would create up there. I spent so much time making it perfect for the miracle pregnancy that I worked for so hard for. We put up wainscoting ourselves (with help from a friend's dad), I painted the wainscoting, I painted the walls, we added shelves in the closet, I sewed his curtains myself, I built and sewed his cornice board, I altered his crib skirt, I made his decorative pillows, my husband and father in law built a wooden wall shelf for him. So much LOVE went into this room. I will not and cannot paint over it or redecorate it. It is "the nursery". I was actually featured on Chic & Cheap Nursery and HERE is the link!

When I was painting Foster's room a song came on the radio that had become one of "my songs" while I was going through infertility treatments and some deep depression. The song was "Fix You" by Coldplay. I was in the closet painting and the song came on... I remember it so vividly. I reached down, put my hand on my stomach, and I just started crying. I got down off the ladder and I crumpled to the floor in his closet, I laid there on the floor in his closet for at least 30 minutes just crying and thinking. I couldn't believe that I was pregnant and I was painting that room for MY baby. Something so simple to most people, truly most people probably dread that painting job, but I wouldn't have handed that brush over to the Pope. The song still stops me in my tracks and takes my breathe away. It takes me back and I can literally feel the pain and that I used to feel while listening to that song.

Enough sad stuff, this post is about must haves =) So these are some things I am looking over and feeling that I "must have" for Foster's big boy room when I am strong enough to start working on it.
Wooden Letters with roadways on them! I love having the kiddos name in the room since we carefully picked it.

Loving these PBK sheets!

Umm, there is no cooler toy box than this for a car/transportation themed room. Right?

Love the idea of the pennant banners going from the corners to the center of the room, maybe some checkered thrown in.

Magnetic car stripping with metal cars that can be driven around on it, coolest thing ever!!!

Car shelves are a must for Foster's room. He takes an arm full up to bed very night.

Another option for magnetic road stripping.
What are your must haves this week?

Must Have Monday and a Link Up Event Announcement!

Sunday, December 29, 2013

Welcome back, I know that Mondays are everyone's least favorite day and this one might be one of the worst because many people have to return to work after a nice long break. Hopefully this fun link up can brighten your work day a bit if that is the case for you.

First I would love if you followed me on twitter @TheCraftyPBlog
& Like my fan Facebook Page

On wednesday, January 1st, that is insane to me. I am going to have a special one time link up for the new year! Mark your calendars, put an alert in your phone, write on your hand {like in middle school, haha} but whatever you do make sure you remember to come back here and grab this button and link up with me to share your New years Resolutions for 2014!

The Crafty Practitioner

On to my must haves. Is it sad that I have things I want right after the holiday? I actually didn't get too many actual items for christmas. I got a couple practical items and a couple gift cards {that I haven't used yet}. Now that I have a son I really worry more about telling people what he wants and making sure that he has a good holiday. Justin and I no longer shop for each other either. Perhaps in the future, when we are more financially sound, we will go back to buying for each other.

The Crafty Practitioner
So here are the things I am considering getting in the next few weeks:

I am needing some new chapsticks because my lips are chapped!!! The winter has been doing a number on them and I have heard fantastic things about the FRESH brand Sugar lip treatment.
I am not actually considering buying this, but I wish that I was. It is the Erin Satchel from Fossil, but costs nearly a whopping 300 bucks.
The expansion packs for our Cards Against Humanity game. This game is our instant favorite and you make have read my post about it HERE.
